About 'DTTC' - its evolution, a help needed, etc.

God is Great. 'DTTC' Windows app is Beloved God's. Not mine. Because, fundamentally, a person is a mere illusion (as expounded in 'Maha Ramayanam' and various other scriptures of ours). All Glory and Thanks to the Lord Almighty only, ever. Forever.

First of all, I am sharing this app only privately, as of now, amongst the users with whom I decide to share it with. Because, it has to undergo lots of testing and get the stamp of approval from selected users that it is ready for public release. So, kindly please do not share this app with anyone, as of now. Please keep it with yourself. And, it goes without saying that you shall NOT host this app anywhere - in a pen drive, google drive, website, etc., in order to share with anyone.

Well, I started developing 'DTTC' (towards the very end of 2024, if I remember right) as an offshoot while I was working on one other grand app (which was yet to be released at the time I started writing this page's contents, but released now - on 9th May 2025; details at i-am-that-word.php page). While developing that other app (again, one-of-its-kind), the need arose to do a particular thing to effect a particular task in that other app. And, it was at that time I suddenly realised that this app (DTTC) is a possibility (as a consequence of that aforesaid 'particular' thing). So, I worked on it for 3 weeks, on and off, until the 1st week or so of 2025, to see what all Office documents' conversions are possible to do. After that, I left it at that and continued with my other grand app. Again, on 25th March 2025, I started working on DTTC from where I left. I thought it would take a week to finalise it but then that was not to be the case. It became so so so so so so complex as I kept working on it. Thanks to the Lord, the app has reached to the level where it is now.

Suggestions for enhancements are always welcome but I will be able to implement them if and when I find time only. Everything is God's WILL.

Going forward, the one foremost help I need from users is in 'testing'. Countless times I had to test this app during development because of the very great amount of complexity involved. It made me cry a few times inconsolably/disconsolately since I was not able to do this much amount of testing as a single person. Already, coding for such a complex work itself was so taxing. And, on top of it, testing too. It was sapping my energy like anything. It was toooooooo hard. I have been going to bed very late almost daily, since 23rd March 2025. Today is 21-April-2025. Shri. Gopalan aiyaa could find time to help me at one point during the testing and it was of monumental help. Thanks a TONNNNNNN to him. He also sent me 2 very big docx files (one was 600+pages and another was 300+ pages) with lots of formatting. And, they helped me in my testing to an extreme level. Thanks a TON to shri. Gopalan sir.

Overview - OS requirements, etc.

DTTC is a Windows application. So, it has no connection with mobiles, as of now. It is one other addition to the existing 'Azhagi' free apps (https://azhagi.com/all-free-apps.php)

The app (free, of course) has been checked to be working normally in Windows 11, Windows 10 and Windows7.

Possibility-wise, I have already checked out the conversion of MS Excel/PowerPoint, LibreOffice Writer/Calc/Presentation files and they are all working. But, time and energy to fully test the conversions of these files and include those conversion modules also in DTTC, I dont know when it is all destined.

Features - a list of all the exquisite features of 'DTTC'

Convert MS Office Word documents at "MAGICAL" speeds - from one font to another. Yes, see it to believe it. If your document is just 1 page, then the conversion may take place even in less than 100 milliseconds (i.e. less than 1/10th of a second!). Yes, use DTTC to believe it.
- For instance, it takes only around 6 seconds to convert a 330 pages Word document from TAM fonts (not just one but many TAM fonts are used in the document) to Unicode - with all formatting (Bold, Italic, Underline, Tables, Colors, Images, Headers/Footers, etc., etc., etc.) intact.
- The above timing is based on what I observed in my own Win 11 system which has SSD (Solid State Drive).
- In non-SSD systems, I felt that the time will increase somewhat but nevertheless it will be still quite fast. When I finally tested today (24-Apr-2025) the speeds in an old Win10 system with normal HDD, what I felt turned out to be true. The times were doubled (and a bit more). That's all. i.e. if time taken for converting a 250+ pages document was 5 seconds in SSD, it was 11 seconds in HDD. So, not much of a significant difference. All the same, as such.
- On 27-May-2025, user-wellwisher shri. Viswalinga Surya informed me that according to him, the 'times taken for conversion' are to do with processor capacity also and not solely related to Hard disk type. RAM capacity does not matter much, he felt.

MS office or MS Word need not be installed in one's system to effect the conversion of the .docx documents. Even if installed, no need to open it, for the purpose of conversion.

Convert text files as well, from one font encoding (Unicode) to another (Bamini)

Batch conversion is possible. i.e. you can select one or more files (.docx and .txt, as of now) from Windows explorer and convert them all in one go.

4 types of conversion are possible
- Unicode to NonUnicode
- NonUnicode to Unicode
- NonUnicode to NonUnicode
- Unicode to Unicode

'Unicode to Unicode' means you can convert all the texts in a document from one (e.g. Latha) or more (e.g. Latha, Vijaya, Arial Unicode MS, etc.) Unicode fonts to another Unicode font (e.g. Nirmala UI)

'NonUnicode to NonUnicode' conversion helps you convert a document directly from one (e.g. TAM-Abhirami) or more NonUnicode fonts (e.g. TAM-Abhirami, TAM-Appar, TAM-Pattinathar, TAM-Kamban, etc.) to another NonUnicode font (e.g. Bamini)

The conversion takes place externally. No need to open MS Word, even if it is installed. The file or files (with .docx, .txt, etc.) is/are## given as input by selecting it/them from its/their folder in windows explorer. The output file generated is placed by the new app in the same folder with the naming convention seen by you in it. As of now, that is the naming convention. Since time stamp is used, all output files will have unique names only.

(##) As mentioned already, I have given batch conversion option since time taken is extremely low for conversion.

Headers and footers in a document also can be converted.

In the displayed list of documents, you can double-click (either on the source or the converted document) to view it in MS-Word, Notepad, etc.

In the displayed list, you can double-click the 'File Path' to open that path in Windows Explorer.

Eventhough direct conversion of LibreOffice odt documents is not yet provided, you can still convert them - by first saving them in .docx format; then, converting those .docx documents from one font to another; and then opening them again in LibreOffice Writer. In my quick testing, I found that it seems to work perfectly. Except for a few bullet marks appearing differently in one page, I did not see any issues. But then, this was in a quick testing by me.

Actually, the above idea for converting odt documents occurred to me only suddenly, just today (21-Apr-2025). And, these are the kinds of ideas, suggestions for enhancements I need veteran users to give me, as many as they can, but except 2 or 3 users (esp. Shri. Muralidharan), others are hardly keen to do that. Don't know why. At this moment, I thank all the users who have so far given suggestions for enhancements or asked for new tools/apps/features. Because, these are extremely essential for more and more benefits to accrue to the society.

In fact, user-wellwisher Shri. Raguveeradayal did ask me more than once (in the past 2 years or so) to develop a Tamil Fonts Converter to convert LibreOffice Writer documents also, having utilised in the past the "Document Tamil Font Converters" inbuilt in AAW, AAE, Azhagi+ and Azhagi++. I encourage users to ask for such new features/tools/apps/etc., so that whenever possible, I can work on them. Because, more the features/tools/apps, more the benefits to the society. Even if a particular feature/tool/app does not appear to be personally useful to a user, he may still ask me for such a feature/tool/app because it may be immensely beneficial to some other users. So, please ask. The 'Swap Encodings' feature is another instance where a user-wellwisher asked for the same. Like this, there are several instances. So, please ask. The grand app I talked about earlier was also influenced by the request from a kind-hearted user-wellwisher only. I had thoughts about it since many years but when an ardent user-wellwisher also asked for the same, it ignited me further. So, please ask. Do not hesitate. Its all for the global good. So, please ask (using a GoogleSites web page preferably, as suggested elsewhere in this page).

I have lot more features in mind but not much time, as of now. Because, I have to restart working on the grand app about which I talked earlier.

I have quite a few ideas in my mind for the 'Options' screen (not yet present in Dttc) but no time to implement them at this moment. Sorry.

As you explore the abovementioned facilities/features, you will surely rejoice using the app, I believe, as much as I enjoyed/enjoy using it. Especially, since the speeds are at magical levels, it helped me in generating outputs faster and thus checking them out for mistakes faster. So, even for myself, as a developer, the app was immensely stupendous. I felt soooooo joyful many a times to see the sheer MAGIC - of this app - converting documents in just milliseconds or few seconds only.

Well, even if even one or two loving user brothers/sisters support diligently and consistently in testing the app and suggesting enhancements, the app can be extended sooner than later to include conversion of other document types (.odt, .ods, .odp, etc., etc.), with more features and more options. If such support persists for the upcoming apps also, then those apps also can reach and benefit the society sooner than later.

Please note that testing is very very very arduous, particularly when I keep enhancing the code for 'improvements or enhancements' again and again and again. Sometimes what was working earlier would not work after some change in code. So, once again, I have to do the full testing - for all the 4 types of conversions - with various documents - to ensure that everything is working well as it was earlier (i.e. before I made the code change). So, if God can somehow show me somebody who keeps in touch with me constantly and is able to do testing (and suggest enhancements) as regularly, as actively, as diligently, as consistently, as enthusiastically, as swiftly and as steadfastly as shri. Gopalan sir does when it comes to helping Azhagi users, then that would be really great. I know everybody has got their own work to do to earn money. But, may be there is someone like me somewhere who is engaged only in SatKarma (and not working to earn money) and technically savvy. So, may be God can show me one (or more) such persons. Hence, my prayers# to Him. Anyway, let us see. Its all God's WILL, ultimately.

(#) Actually, since the past few years, I have been sincerely praying to the Lord to give me 'pasiyaa varam, thoongaa varam, dhaagam edukkaa varam, etc., etc., etc. - with perfect health and steady mind'^^ so that I can continue to work on Azhagi SatKarma uninterruptedly. Let us see.

A Very Special Feature - convert fonts which are not installed too

You can convert one or more fonts present in the document even if they are not installed in your system

So often users may encounter old documents in which very many number of fonts of a particular encoding (e.g. TAM) are used. DTTC can convert texts in all of them to another encoding (e.g. Bamini, Unicode, etc.)

In order to find out what all fonts of an encoding are used in a particular document, you can just click on the document name in the list of documents displayed.

Once you have identified and picked out the names of the specific set of Tamil fonts (of the encoding of your interest), you need to add these font names in the "AzhagiPlus-NonUniSearchPatterns.txt" file in the line pertaining to the encoding of your interest. For e.g. the 'TAM' line in the aforementioned text file may look like the following (after you added the names of all the TAM-encoded fonts 'which you found in a document' and not installed in your system):
TAM-, TamUni-, TAM_, _TAM, TAM-Appar`, TAM_Elango_Veena`, TAM_Porppu`, TAM_Mesham`, TAM_Meenam`, TAM-Komala`, TAM_Katakam`, TAM_Ava`, TAMKalyani`, TAM-Ilango`, TAM_ELANGO_Barathi`, TAM_Aniezhai`, A096_TAMElango_Valluvan Bold`, A058_TAMElango_Mullai Bold`, Tam_Shakti_38`

As you can notice, the font names which you add must end with `(backtick character) denoting that these fonts are not installed in your system but could be present in a document which you wish to convert.

Alternate characters - how to convert character alternatives in a font

Some fonts (e.g. Bamini, Tamil_Aiswarya, etc.) have alternatives to certain characters (for e.g. ர் may be represented by both H and h;).

If you are interested in DTTC converting those alternatives also, then please list out all such alternatives in a font and send to me. I shall incorporate them in the future versions of DTTC.

Shri. Gopalan Padmavathy - All about sir here. I whatsapped the app (Preview Version 1 of DTTC) to aiyaa at 1.37pm on 25-Apr-2025. He has so far (as of 2.12pm on 25-Apr-2025) sent me one screenshot back showing the conversion of a voluminous 43.45MB MS-Word document in around 7 seconds in his system. The conversion was effected for TAM to Unicode.

Update: On 01-May-2025, aiyaa sent a video and an image showcasing how a 12.43kb .docx got converted from AnyUnicodeFont to DefaultUnicodeFont(Nirmala UI) in less than 100 seconds (i.e. less than 1/10th of a second). Whatsapped him the 'Preview Version 3' of DTTC at around 11.43pm on 01-May-2025

Testing and Feedback - to what extent I have tested; your help

For TAM font only, I have tested to the maximum extent possible, as of 22-April-2025. And, I have tested only for 'Normal Quotes' and 'New ir/ri/ree' options.

I have tested with the 2 bulky files (30MB+, 40MB+ resp.) and all the 4 conversions seemed to be working perfectly, to the bestEST extent I tested.

I have tested the 'Convert quotes' functionality also with one of the above files for TAM encoding.

But then, still errors might be encountered while you try converting at your end. So, please test thoroughly at your end, to the extent possible by you.

I myself am aware of some errors and because of lack of time, I am not correcting them before releasing the app. For instance, sometimes, tabs in input appear after double quotes instead of before them; Non-normal hyphen in Unicode gets converted to rupee sign in TAM, etc. Will correct errors like these as days go by.

If you are able to test and give feedback, please always share with me, 'first and foremost', what worked (and your instant joy and gratitude to our Loving God, on seeing the same, if only your heart can will for the same). Thereafter, you can share what did not work OR your suggestions for enhancements.

Of course if there were issues in starting the app itself OR you were not able to effect any of the conversions at all successfully, then you can definitely inform the same along with the documents you tried.

But, otherwise, first and foremost, please always let me know what all worked at your end only. i.e. let me know how well each of the various features worked, at what speeds, at what effectiveness, how beneficial they were, etc., etc. Please send me screenshots and/or short videos, if possible. Because, these are the firstmost useful info I can readily share with other users (which will be of enthusing nature for them, to check out 'DTTC' sooner than later).

And, last but not least, share your joy and gratitude (to our Loving God, I mean; because HE is the doer) for the benefits you and others derived/going-to-derive. I can readily share that too with others, for them also to bask in that God-given-Joy. Why should they not?

I wish to quote Beloved Baba's words once again: "All work is God’s; He inspires, He helps, He executes, He enjoys, and He is pleased". So, it is all the more a reason for any user-wellwisher to readily share the Divine-given-joy (whatever you derived from 'DTTC' app).

Instead, if you straightaway start reporting what is not working OR straightaway start giving suggestions for enhancements, that does not help me or other users in a speedier manner, I humbly feel. So, let those things be reported in a secondary manner, PLEASE. First and foremost, please report all and everything that worked only (alongwith your joy and gratitude to our Loving God, if your heart can will for the same). Always. Please. This is a very humble request of mine. Thanks in advance.

As far as this app is concerned, if conversion is not working as desired for any documents, you need to send me those documents. Then only I can check it out at my end and effect any necessary code changes to make the conversion work 100% with that document. So, please send me the documents.

"As of now", the app starts with a 'Welcome' screen. Just close it OR click the 'OK' button for the main DTTC starting screen to appear.

Important Tips - Based on Users' Feedback

Brother Muralitharan has tested DTTC for Tamil-Aiswarya fonts too and its all working beautifuly.

On 07-May-2025, it was found that in 2 of brother muralitharan's systems alone, the final output file was not getting generated for any of his input files. After lottttts of to-and-fro chatting with him via Whatsapp for 4 to 5 hours, found out the reasons for the same. The thing is:

The input files should not be present in system directories (like 'Program Files', etc.). They should be present in a non-system directory only (e.g. "C:\MyFavoriteAzhagiApps" or even more preferably "D:\MyFavoriteAzhagiApps" in case you have such extra partitions in your systems).

The files to be converted should not be present in a system which is in a 'Network'. Because, the network administrator can easily lay down restrictive policies so that creation of new files by external apps is disallowed, even in pen-drives connected to the system.

Thanks a TON to brother muralitharan, from the bottom of my heart, for wholeheartedly engaging with me in Whatsapp, that too for 4-5 hours, so that the above conclusions could be reached at.

No download link has been provided for "DTTC" yet, primarily because of the AntiVirus MENACE which "wrongly" identifies any new app released by me as a virus.

As of now, the application as a zip file has been shared by me via Whatsapp with few ardent user-wellwishers. The instructions given to them (upon receiving the zip file at their end) are as follows:

Using 'Desktop Whatsapp' (or Whatsapp Web), save the zip file to your desktop/laptop system.

Extract the contents of the zip file into a preferred directory in your system.

Then, kindly click on 'Azhagi's DT Tamil-Fonts-Converter.exe' .

Mostly, Windows 'SmartScreen' will open first. Therein, you need to click 'More Info' and then click 'Run Anyway'. You may know this already but as a general instruction I am mentioning it here.

I very much await your views and testimonials so that I can make Dttc more and more perfect.

Note-2: If you are using any other AntiVirus software (other than the inbuilt Windows Defender), then it may not allow you to use the app at all. This is the way any AntiVirus software behaves with any newly released app developed by individuals. Nothing can be done about it, as such. I am helpless. However, if you are really keen to use the app, then you may read this to know how to take remedial action. The aforementioned link tells one what to do in the case of Azhagi app. Similar actions can be taken in case of 'Dttc' app too. For instance, my uncle (running 89, as of Nov 2024), who has McAfee antivirus in his system, installed Azhagi's 'SaiNectars' app in this manner - First, he stopped the real-time scanning of mcafee for a while. At that moment, using 'Desktop Whatsapp' application, he downloaded the 'SaiNectars' zip file from his whatsapp into his Windows system and extracted the zip file contents into a folder (say, 'C:\SaiNectars'). Thereafter, in mcafee, in the 'Exclude File from scanning' option, he browsed to 'C:\SaiNectars' and selected 'SaiNectars.exe'. Thereafter, he resumed the real-time scanning operations of mcafee. McAfee did not raise any false positives on 'SaiNectars' executable.

Personally, I have always felt that as long as one is dependent on this society (dependent on your internet service provider, dependent on a doctor, dependent on a computer service engineer, dependent on the milk provider, dependent on the newspaper provider, dependent on an auto's services, dependent on a housemaid, dependent on your loving pet dog to show you the way, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.) and thus availing help from others in innumerable ways, one is bound to help others too. How else it can be? In fact, as far as I can say, service to fellow beings has been prescribed foremost by all the Gods, Avatars, Mahans, Rishis, Gnanis, etc. And, when I read the following Q&A one day, in this page (and referred in this page too), I felt quite happy. Yes, by all means we shall help each other.

Question:
But we see pain in the world. A man is hungry. It is a physical reality. It is very real to him. Are we to call it a dream and remain unmoved by his suffering?

Sri Ramana Maharshi:
From the point of view of jnana or Reality, the suffering you speak of is certainly a dream, as is the world of which that suffering is an infinitesimal part. In a dream you have when you are asleep you yourself feel hunger and see others also suffering from hunger. You feed yourself and, moved by pity, feed the others who are hungry. So long as the dream lasted, all this suffering was quite as real as the suffering you see in the world is to you now. It was only when you woke up that you discovered it to be unreal. You might have eaten heartily before going to sleep, but you still dreamt that you had been working hard in the hot sun all day and were tired and hungry. Then you woke up and found that your stomach was full and that you had not stirred from your bed. But all this is not to say that while you are in the dream you can act as if the suffering you feel in it is not real. The hunger in the dream has to be appeased by dream food. The fellow beings you find hungry in the dream have to be provided with dream food. You can never mix the two states, the dream and the waking state. Similarly, till you attain the state of Self-Realization and thus wake out of this illusory, phenomenal world, you must do social service by relieving suffering whenever you see it. But even so you must do it without ahankara, that is without the sense of: ‘It-is-I-who-am-doing-it’. Instead you should feel: ‘I am the Lord’s instrument.' Similarly you must not be conceited and think: ‘I am helping a man who is below me. He needs help and I am in a position to give it. I am superior and he is inferior’. You must help him as a means of worshiping God in him. All such service is serving the Self, not anybody else. You are not helping anybody else, but only yourself.
