Azhagi's "Word Speedster" app is actually one of the tools in 'I AM That Word' application ('I AM', for short), which I decided to release as a separate app, one fine day. Details of 'I AM' desktop application are present in i-am-that-word.php. Thanks.

Overview - OS requirements, etc.

Azhagi's "Word Speedster" (AWSP, for short) is a Windows application. So, it has no connection with mobiles, as of now. It is one other addition to the existing 'Azhagi' free apps (all-free-apps.php)

The app (free, of course) has been checked to be working normally in Windows 11, Windows 10 and Windows 7. I presume it will work in Windows Vista and Windows XP too.

Word Speedster (One of its kind)
- This tool was developed based on a request from brother Muralitharan for a 'Typing Speed Tester'.
- You can set a time limit (1, 2, 3, 5, 10, ..., 55) in minutes and start typing in the text box provided - in your preferred keyboard layout (Phonetic transliteration, Tamil Typewriter, TamilNet99, etc.) using Azhagi+ or Azhagi++.
- Option to prevent the use of backspace and delete keys, while typing, is provided. You can keep it unchecked if you do need the use of backspace and delete keys.
- 10 sample texts are provided. All these 10 sample texts are customisable, to your own requirements (to have texts interspersed with typo-prone words, punctuation challenges, etc.). You customise them by editing the 10 text files which carry these sample texts. Well, one of the sample texts is hereunder. It is the 36th chapter - on 'Self-Realisation' - in Thirukkural.

- The 'Instant reporting' option will help you show results simultaneously as you keep typing. You can keep it unchecked if you do not want 'instant reporting'.
- You can not only start and stop the timer but pause it too!
- After the time limit is up, a screen will pop up showing the WPM (words per minute) and the count of Words, Letters, Strokes, Characters, Paras and Lines typed. After you press 'OK', the content you typed will get saved into your system.
- The 'Strokes' count - an extremely unique feature - is provided for 'Tamil Typewriter' enthusiasts. For instance, in phonetic typing, you type 'k' and 'u' to get கு. But, in Tamil typewriting mode, it is a single stroke 'F'. Similarly, to type 'கொ', you need 2 strokes in phonetic typing - 'k' and 'o' whereas in Tamil typewriting, it is 3 strokes - bfh.
- Actually, the 'Letters' count is also a very very unique feature.
- As far as I know, no other tool (incl. MS Word) provides "Letters Count" for Tamil, as of Sep 2025. For instance, if you type கூட்டம், MS Word will only report the 'Characters count' - as 7. Whereas, AWSP will report the 'Letters count' itself - as 4.

Differences - between sample and typed texts

To get to see the differences between your typed text and the sample provided, you need to have installed 'WinMerge' (https://winmerge.org) in your system, preferably in the directory which is one level above your AWSP directory. For e.g. suppose "C:\MyFavApps\Word-Speedster-Azhagi's" is your AWSP installation directory. Then, install 'WinMerge' in "C:\MyFavApps\". If done so, while running, AWSP will automatically identify the 'WinMergeU.exe' from that 'WinMerge' installation directory (i.e. "C:\MyFavApps\WinMerge") and use it to generate the 'differences' report and display it to you in your default browser (e.g. Microsoft Edge).

The above is the easiest thing to do. But, if you choose to install 'WinMerge' in some other directory (other than the location recommended above), then, provide the full path name of 'WinMergeU.exe' in "\Atman\I AM\Settings-WordSpeedster.txt" file in AWSP's installation directory. AWSP will use the same.
