In this world, trees, rivers, and cows help others without any trace of selfish motive. They do not expect anything in return. Without trees, rivers, and cows, the world cannot exist. In fact, it is they that sustain it. But the irony is that man does not make any effort to help and serve others. The spirit of sacrifice evident in them is absent in man today. He spends all his time fulfilling his selfish desires and does not give even a moment for doing good to others or for helping them. Sai Avatar has incarnated in this Kali age with the divine mission of making every individual realise his relationship with the community, and ultimately with Divinity. What is spirituality? That which destroys man's animal nature, nurtures humanness, and finally transforms him into a Divine being is spirituality. Worshipping, singing devotional songs, and performing rituals are acts of secondary importance. They cannot be identified with true spirituality. The word ‘SAI’ spells out to the world the significance of transformation at three levels. The letter ‘S’ stands for transformation at spiritual level, ‘A’ for transformation at association (social) level, and ‘I’ for transformation at the individual level. இவ்வுலகில் மரங்களும், ஆறுகளும், பசுக்களும் எவ்வித சுயநல நோக்கமின்றி பிறருக்கு உதவுகின்றன. அவை பதிலுக்கு எதையும் எதிர்பார்ப்பதில்லை. மரங்கள், ஆறுகள், பசுக்கள் ஆகியவை இல்லாமல் உலகம் இருக்க முடியாது. உண்மையில், அவையே அதைப் போஷிக்கின்றன. இவ்வாறிருக்க, இதற்கு முரணாக மனிதனோ, மற்றவர்களுக்கு உதவவும், சேவை செய்யவும் எந்த முயற்சியும் எடுப்பதில்லை. அவற்றிடமுள்ள தியாக உணர்வு இன்று மனிதனிடம் காணப்படுவதில்லை. அவன் தன் சுயநல ஆசைகளை நிறைவேற்றிக்கொள்வதற்காக தனது முழு நேரத்தையும் செலவிடுகிறான்; ஆனால் மற்றவர்களுக்கு நன்மை செய்யவோ அல்லது உதவவோ ஒரு நிமிடம் கூட அளிப்பதில்லை. ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனும் தன் சமூகத்துடனும், முடிவில் தெய்வத்துடனும் உள்ள தொடர்பை உணர்ந்து அறியச் செய்யும் அவதார பணிக்காகவே இந்தக் கலியுகத்தில் சாயி அவதரித்துள்ளார். ஆன்மிகம் என்றால் என்ன? எது மனிதனின் மிருக இயல்பை அழித்து, மனித நேயத்தை வளர்த்து, இறுதியில் அவனை தெய்வீகமானவனாக மாற்றுகிறதோ அதுவே ஆன்மிகம் ஆகும். வழிபடுவது, பஜன் பாடுவது, சடங்குகளைச் செய்வது ஆகியவை எல்லாம் இரண்டாம் பட்சம் தான். அவற்றை உண்மையான ஆன்மிகம் எனக் கூற முடியாது. 'SAI' என்ற வார்த்தை மூன்று நிலைகளிலான நல்மாற்றத்தின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை உலகிற்கு எடுத்துரைக்கிறது. SAI: S – Spiritual, A – Association, I – Individual. 'S' என்ற எழுத்து ஆன்மிக நிலையிலும், 'A' என்பது சமூக நிலையிலும், 'I' என்பது தனிமனித நிலையிலும் நிகழும் நல்மாற்றத்தைக் குறிக்கிறது. (தெய்வீக அருளுரை, ஏப்ரல்28, 1999)
