Atma is the ocean, nature is just a wave of that vast, ageless and boundless ocean, and individual soul is just a droplet of that wave! You cannot give up wave or sea. You can only merge the Name and Form of the droplet. Once you enter the depths of the Sea, it’s all calm, peace! Agitation, noise and confusion are there only on outer layers. So also in the innermost recesses of the heart, there is a reservoir of peace where you must take refuge. There are three types of people: lethargic (tamasic), who are like iron balls, impervious to any softening influence; active (rajasic), who are like cotton, absorbent but not changing their own nature; and pure (satwic), who melt as butter melts at the joy or grief of others or at the mention of Divine plays of the Lord! ஆத்மா என்பது கடல்; இயற்கை என்பது விசாலமான, காலமற்ற, எல்லையற்ற அக்கடலின் வெறும் ஒரு அலையே; ஜீவாத்மா அந்த அலையின் வெறும் ஒரு நீர்த்துளியே! நீங்கள் அலையையோ அல்லது கடலையோ விட்டுவிட முடியாது. நீர்த்துளியின் நாமரூபத்தை அவற்றில் இரண்டறக் கலந்துவிடத்தான் உங்களால் முடியும். நீங்கள் ஆழ்கடலை அடைந்துவிட்டால், அங்கிருப்பதெல்லாம் அமைதியும், சாந்தியுமே! கிளர்ச்சி, இரைச்சல், குழப்பம் ஆகியவை வெளிப்புற அடுக்குகளில் மட்டுமே உள்ளன. அதைப்போலவே, இதயத்தின் ஆழத்தில் சாந்தியின் மானஸரோவர் இருக்கிறது; அதில் நீங்கள் தஞ்சமடைய வேண்டும். மூன்று விதமான மனிதர்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள்: 1) எவ்வகையிலும் மென்மையாக்கவே முடியாத இரும்புக் குண்டுகளைப் போன்ற தாமஸகுணம் படைத்தவர்கள், 2) பஞ்சைப் போன்று கிரகிக்க முடிந்தாலும் தன் இயல்பை மாற்றிக்கொள்ளாத ரஜோ குணம் படைத்தவர்கள், 3) பிறரது இன்ப துன்பத்தைக் காணும்போதும், இறைவனுடைய லீலைகளைப் பற்றிக் கேட்கும்போதும் வெண்ணையைப் போல உருகும் தூய சாத்விக குணம் படைத்தவர்கள்! சாத்விக குணத்தினர் கருணையின் மூலாதாரம் மற்றும் ஊற்றின்கண் ஆழ்ந்துவிடும் தன்மை கொண்டவர்கள்.
