The seventh flower is the flower of meditation (dhyana). Meditation doesn’t mean sitting in padmasana (cross-legged) with eyes closed in contemplation of God. This is physical, worldly activity. No doubt, this is needed, but true meditation lies in unifying the mind with God. Just as milk and water cannot be separated, likewise, when the mind merges with God, it cannot be separated. An iron ball cast in fire will become one with it. Likewise, your love should become one with divine love. This truth is contained in the Vedic dictum, Brahmavid Brahmaiva Bhavati (the knower of Brahman becomes Brahman Himself). Some people contemplate on God for a limited period in the morning and evening. This cannot be called meditation. Sarvada Sarva Kaleshu Sarvatra Hari chintanam (contemplate on God at all times, at all places and under all circumstances). Perform all tasks with your mind firmly fixed on God. This is true meditation.(Divine Discourse, Aug 22,2000)

ஏழாவது மலர், தியானம் எனும் புஷ்பமாகும். தியானம் என்றால் பத்மாசனத்தில் அமர்ந்து கண்களை மூடிக்கொண்டு இறைவனை தியானிப்பது என்று பொருளல்ல. இது உடல்ரீதியான, உலகியலான செயலாகும். இது தேவைதான், சந்தேகமே இல்லை, ஆனால், உண்மையான தியானம் என்பது மனதை இறைவனுடன் ஒன்றிணைப்பதில் தான் இருக்கிறது. எப்படி பாலையும் நீரையும் பிரிக்க முடியாதோ, அப்படித்தான் மனம் இறைவனுடன் இரண்டறக் கலந்துவிட்டால் அதைப் பிரிக்க முடியாது. நெருப்பில் இடப்பட்ட இரும்புக்குண்டு அதனுடன் ஒன்றாகி விடுகிறது. அதைப் போலவே, உங்களுடைய ப்ரேமை தெய்வீக ப்ரேமையுடன் ஒன்றாகி விட வேண்டும். இந்த உண்மை, ப்ரம்மவித் ப்ரம்மைவ பவதி (ப்ரம்மத்தை அறிந்தவன், அவனே ப்ரம்மமாகி விடுகிறான்) என்ற வேதவாக்கில் அடங்கியுள்ளது. சிலர், காலையிலும், மாலையிலும் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்திற்கு இறைவனை தியானிக்கிறார்கள். இதை தியானம் என்று கூற முடியாது. ஸர்வதா ஸர்வ காலேஷு ஸர்வத்ர ஹரி சிந்தனம் (எல்லா சந்தர்ப்பங்களிலும், எல்லாக் காலங்களிலும், எல்லா இடங்களிலும், இறைவனை தியானியுங்கள்). உங்களுடைய மனதை இறைவன் மீது உறுதியாக நிலைகொள்ளச் செய்து, எல்லாப் பணிகளையும் ஆற்றுங்கள். இதுவே உண்மையான தியானமாகும்.
