Font and system requirement
If the characters in this page are not visible in Oriya, then it means you do not have even one suitable Unicode Oriya font in your system. To download and install atleast one FREE Unicode Oriya font, kindly visit this page or see azhagi.com's unicodeff.html for links to many such pages.

Ideally, only Win Vista and above do 100% correct Unicode processing for Oriya. Please note that this is purely an operating system restriction and it has nothing to do with Azhagi+.

Note
x, X and ` [character under '~' in English keyboards] are used as modifiers and/or splitters

x, ` and X modifiers
  • x when applied after certain Oriya letters modifies them. For e.g.
    kruxpaa = କୃପା, Rux = ୠ, Sx = ଽ (avagraha), 1x = ୧ (Oriya numeral 1)
  • Whenever x does not take the role of a modifier, it just prints 'କ୍ଷ'. For e.g.
    laxman = ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମନ

  • ` when applied before certain Oriya consonants modifies them. For e.g.
    ଙ = ङ, ଞ = ञ, ଜ୍ଞ = ज्ञ
  • ` when applied between certain Oriya consonants (like k`h, g`h, t`h, d`h, etc.) helps them to form their natural conjuncts. For e.g.
    bakkiMghaam = ବକ୍କିଂଘାମ whereas bakkiMg`haam = ବକ୍କିଂଗ୍ହାମ୍

  • X or XX can be applied between Oriya consonants to help form consonants with halant symbol. For e.g.
    baakyaa = ବାକ୍ଯା whereas baakXyaa = ବାକ୍‌ଯା
  • X or XX can be applied between certain Oriya vowels (say 'ai' or 'ou') to help them get separated into their component vowels. For e.g.
    priyaiMDiyaa = ପ୍ରିଯୈଂଦିଯା whereas priyaXiMDiyaa = ପ୍ରିଯ‍ଇଂଡିଯା
