x, ` and X modifiers
  • x when applied after certain Gujarati letters modifies them. For e.g.
    kruxpaa = કૃપા, Rux = ૠ, Sx = ઽ (avagraha), ૧ = १ (Gujarati numeral 1)
  • Whenever x does not take the role of a modifier, it just prints 'ક્ષ'. For e.g.
    laxman = લક્ષ્મન

  • ` when applied before certain Gujarati consonants modifies them. For e.g.
    `g = ઙ, `j = ઞ, j`j = જ્ઞ
  • ` when applied between certain Gujarati consonants (like k`h, g`h, t`h, d`h, etc.) helps them to form their natural conjuncts. For e.g.
    bakkiMghaam = બક્કિંઘામ whereas bakkiMg`haam = બક્કિંગ્હામ

  • X can be applied between Gujarati consonants to help form their half-consonants. For e.g.
    rakshaa = રક્ષા whereas rakXshaa = રક્‍શા

  • XX can be applied between Gujarati consonants to help form consonants with halant symbol. For e.g.
    baakyaa = બાક્યા whereas baakXXyaa = બાક્‌યા
  • X (or XX) can be applied between certain Gujarati vowels (say 'ai' or 'ou') to help them get separated into their component vowels. For e.g.
    priyaiMDiyaa = પ્રિયૈંડિયા whereas priyaXiMDiyaa = પ્રિય‍ઇંડિયા
