With regard to God, fault finding has come down from the beginning of time; it is not new. But present-day people might manufacture some new tales. Well, why should you take such abuse to heart? Take it that they are remembering Swami by this means! Memories of love and memories of hatred are two types. The latter are ignorance-based illusion (a-vidya maya) and are related to the quality of passion (rajoguna). The former are knowledge-based illusion (vidya-maya) and are related to the quality of serenity (satwa-guna). Ignorance-based illusion results in grief; knowledge-based illusion results in bliss (ananda). You ask what do they gain, right? They don’t need any gain; finding fault with others has become their habit; they do it as their duty. As the saying goes, “What does the moth care whether the sari costs a hundred tankas or is cheap? To gnaw and tear is its nature.” Does it know the value of things? So be at peace, realising that the work of these fault-finders is the same as the work of these moths.( Sandeha Nivarani, ch.2)

இறைவனைப் பற்றி குறை காண்பது என்பது தொன்று தொட்டு வருகின்றது; இது ஒன்றும் புதிதல்ல. ஆனால் இன்றைய மக்கள் சில புதிய கட்டுக்கதைகளைப் உருவாக்கக்கூடும். நல்லது, இப்படிப்பட்ட அவதூறை நீங்கள் ஏன் பொருட்படுத்துகிறீர்கள்? அவர்கள் இவ்விதமாக ஸ்வாமியை நினைவுபடுத்திக் கொள்கின்றனர் என்று எடுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்! ப்ரேமையின் நினைவுகளும், வெறுப்பின் நினைவுகளும் இரண்டு விதமானவை. வெறுப்பின் நினைவுகள் அறியாமையை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்ட மாயை (அவித்யா மாயை), அவை ரஜோகுணத்தோடு சம்பந்தப்பட்டவை. ப்ரேமையின் நினைவுகள் ஞானத்தை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்ட மாயை (வித்யா மாயை), அவை ஸத்வ குணத்தோடு சம்பந்தப்பட்டவை. அறியாமையை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்ட மாயை துயரத்தில் முடிகிறது; ஞானத்தை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்ட மாயை ஆனந்தத்தை அளிக்கிறது. அவர்களுக்கு இதனால் என்ன லாபம் என்று நீ கேட்கிறாய், சரியா? அவர்களுக்கு லாபம் எதுவும் தேவையில்லை; பிறரிடம் குறைகாண்பது என்பது அவர்களுடைய பழக்கமாகிவிட்டது; அவர்கள் அதை தங்களுடைய கடமையாகச் செய்கிறார்கள். “புடவை ஆயிரம் ரூபாய் மதிப்புள்ளது அல்லது மலிவானது என்றெல்லாமா அந்துப்பூச்சி கவலைப்படப் போகிறது? கடித்துக் கிழிப்பதுதான் அதனுடைய இயல்பு" என்பது பழமொழி. அதற்கு பொருட்களின் மதிப்பு தெரியவா போகிறது? குறை காண்பவர்களின் வேலையும், இந்த அந்துப்பூச்சிகளின் வேலையும் ஒரே மாதிரியானதுதான் என்று உணர்ந்து சாந்தமாக இருங்கள்.
