Same as in other editors. No difference at all. While you are in ETA, the selected text in ETA is copied. While you are in TTA, the selected text in TTA is copied.

Same as in other common editors. In fact, doubly same during TT, so to say, in the sense that cut or paste takes place at two areas all the time. Whatever cut or paste you do in English text area, it is reflected instantly in the Tamil text area also.

When you are in ETA, the text in ETA is fully selected. While you are in TTA, the text in TTA is fully selected.

Match Case – This is checked by default since this is necessary when you are doing a search on a Tamil word which is what you will be doing most of the times. For ex: if ETA has ‘kal kaL’ as the text, then TTA will be having ‘¸ø ¸û’. Now, when you type ‘kaL’ in the search box and click on ‘Find Next’, you intend to search for ‘¸û’.

- When ‘Match Case’ is not checked, ‘¸ø’ (‘kal’ in ETA) will get highlighted first and when you click again on ‘Find Next’, ‘¸û’ (‘kaL’ in ETA) will get highlighted.

Note that when you type ‘kal’ and click on ‘Find Next’, you intend to search for ‘¸ø’. We think this is enough explanation.

Synchronised Search - This is checked by default since in most cases, you would want the highlighting to take place in both ETA and TTA. If this is unchecked, highlighting takes place only in ETA. The corresponding search in TTA is not carried out at all. This option obviously makes no meaning during NTT and when transliteration is paused.

Search in TTA alone - When this is checked, ‘Synchronised Search’ is negated and vice versa ; the highlighting takes place only in TTA; whether ‘Match Case’ is checked or not becomes immaterial. This option obviously makes no meaning when transliteration is paused.

Whole Words Only – When this is checked, only whole words are highlighted. ‘words’ inside words are not highlighted.

These two options are complementary to each other. When (a) is ticked, (b) cant be and vice versa. Since you can have mixed text in Azhagi, you can have the same English word in English itself (i.e. non-transliterated) at once place and in Tamil (i.e. transliterated ) at another place. For ex : you can have mixed text in TTA like ‘man Áý’ for which you would have typed ‘man man’ in ETA. Now, if both (a) and (b) are not selected, searching on ‘man’ would highlight both ‘man’ and ‘Áý’

It is quite similar to the 'Search and Replace' facility available in any other windows editor. The major difference is that you are going to Search or Search&Replace in Tamil. Whenever you want to type a Tamil word in the Search box or Replace box, press F10 to go into 'Direct Typing' mode. Then, type your Tamil text just as you would type in any other application. Azhagi will do the 'Search' or 'Search & Replace', as the case may be.

Whole Words Only – When this is checked, only whole Tamil words are highlighted. ‘words’ inside words are not highlighted.

If you are using WinXP/2K, then with our Unicode-powered Professional version, you can do 'Find & Replace' directly in Word, Excel etc. You can also :

After you copy and paste text in an external application, if the characters appear odd instead of being in Tamil, just select the pasted text and apply “SaiIndira” font. It WILL appear in Tamil.

Note-2 : You can use ‘Drag & Drop’ also to copy and paste your texts from Azhagi text areas to other applications like MS-Word.
