Special cases during transliteration

ØTo generate ÀÂý¸û, you can type one of the following :

payanghaL payankhaL payanKaL payancaL payanCaL

(You can type 'payankaL' also if you change the keymapping for 'nk' by clicking on 'Change KeyMappings' under 'Preferences' menu)

More examples:

ØTo generate words like

ÀÄý¸û, ¸Äý¸û, ÜôÀý¸û

type :

palanghaL, kalanghaL, cooppanghaL

If you type palangaL, kalangal, cooppangaL etc., you will get

ÀÄí¸û, ¸Äí¸û, ÜôÀí¸û only.

So, take note of the use of 'gh', 'kh' etc. in those cases.

'gh' is the first choice to use since it does not disturb the phonetics.

ØTo generate ¿ýÌ :

nanghu nankhu nanKu nancu nanCu

(You can type 'nanku' also if you change the keymapping for 'nk' by clicking on 'Change KeyMappings' under 'Preferences' menu)

ØTo generate ¿¡ýÌ :

naanghu naankhu naanKu naancu naanCu

(You can type 'naanku' also if you change the keymapping for 'nk' by clicking on 'Change KeyMappings' under 'Preferences' menu)

ØTo generate ¿¡ý¾¡ý :

naanDhaan naanThaan (i.e. use capital D and T instead of lowercase 'd' and 't')

(You can type 'naanthaan' also if you change the keymapping for 'nth' by clicking on 'Change KeyMappings' under 'Preferences' menu)

ØTo generate §ÀðÃ¢ì, ¦Àð§Ã¡ø etc.

paeTrik, peTroal (i.e. use capital 'T' instead of lowercase 't')

ØTo type 'ó' in the middle of a word (say Á¡¿¸Ãõ, ¦ºó¿£÷), use 'nh'.

Ex : maanhagaram, senhnheer

In all other places, typing 'n' is enough to generate ó.

ØAbove, you saw the use of capital 'T' to generate §ÀðÃ¢ì. Capital letters can be used judiciously to generate many words. For ex:

To generate a place name like §¸¡Àý§†¸ý type coapanHaegan.

You may ask :

ØIn some Tamil poems, û, ü, and ñ appear at the start of a word itself. But, I am unable to get them at the start of a word using Azhagi. Is there a way?

Yes. Definitely. Untick the option 'No L,R,N at start' under Preferences menu. Then, 'û', 'ü', 'ñ' will appear at the start of a word. Consider the following from 'ThirukkuRaL' as examples.

ØIn some Tamil poems, ý appears at the start of a word itself. But, I am unable to get it at the start of a word using Azhagi. Is there a way?

Yes. Definitely. You type 'nH' for the same. See an example below

´ôÒÃÅ¢ É¡øÅÕõ §¸¦¼É¢ý «·¦¾¡ÕÅý

Å¢üÚì§¸¡û ¾ì¸ Ð¨¼òÐ.

To get the above, you type :

oppuravi nHaalvarum kaedenin aqdhoruvan

ØHow do I type a phrase like ¦¸¡ø±Ûï ¦º¡ø, where a vowel '±' follows a consonant 'ø'?

You can type this easily in TTA during NTT. Type '¦¸¡ø ±Ûï ¦º¡ø' by typing 'kol enunj chol'. Then, delete the space before '±Ûï' to get '¦¸¡ø±Ûï'. However, there is a better way to do it, both during TT and NTT. Just tick 'Use back`quote as mey-uyir separator' under 'Preferences' menu. Thereafter, u can type back-quote character whenever you want to separate a 'mey' from an 'uyir'. So, to get ¦¸¡ø±Ûï, type "kol`enunj". The back-quote will not appear in TTA at any time. What you will get is only ¦¸¡ø±Ûï.

ØI understand Azhagi allows to type Tamil Numerals too. How do I generate the same?

Keep checked the 'Tamil Numerals and Sp. Symbols on' option under 'Preferences' menu. Then, use Ma to Mi to type 1 to 9 in Tamil. My and Mz generate the special symbols 10 and 100.
